Betty Schmidt

Creating art has brought such joy to the retirement years of Betty Schmidt. Nothing makes her happier than spending time painting her impressionistic landscapes, florals and figurative works. She does both plein air painting and studio work, frequently using photographs from her travels with husband Tom.
Betty has exhibited in many solo and group shows in the Chicago metropolitan area as well as in regional and national shows.
Serving as President of Oil Painters of America from June 2002 through June 2004 became a major activity through which she came to know artists throughout the U.S. and Canada. Betty has also served on the Board of Directors of the Northland Area Art League and is a member of the Northwest Area Arts Council, the Geneva Lakes Art Association and the Lake County Art Guild.
Prior to her retirement, Betty was Director of Finance for the City of Park Ridge, IL Upon their retirement, Betty and Tom moved to rural McHenry County where they live in the woods enjoying nature amid the changing seasons and light.
